Baptisms

The Sacrament of Baptism ushers us into the divine life, cleanses us from sin, and initiates us as members of the Christian community. It is the foundation for the sacramental life.

To learn more about having your child or yourself baptized, call our Religious Education Office at 586-228-6651.

Eucharist

The liturgical life of the Church revolves around the sacraments, with the Eucharist at the center (National Directory for Catechesis, #35). At Mass, we are fed by the Word and nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ. We believe that the Risen Jesus is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist. The Eucharist is not a sign or symbol of Jesus; rather we receive Jesus himself in and through the Eucharistic species.

If you are interested in First Holy Communion for a member of your family, call our Religious Education Office at 586-228-6651.

Confirmation

Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. (CCC 1316)

To arrange Confirmation for yourself or a member of your family, call our Religious Education Office at 586-228-6651.

The Sacraments of Healing

Reconciliation (Confession)

Individual confession with a priest is the principal means of absolution and reconciliation of grave sins within the Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation frees us from sinful patterns of behavior and calls us to complete conversion to Christ. Reconciliation heals our sins and repairs our relationships.

St. Paul of Tarsus offers confession on Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and upon request. There may also be extra Confessions scheduled around some of the Holy Days and church celebrations.

Anointing of the Sick

The teaching of the Catholic Church holds that the Sacrament of the Sick helps unite those who are suffering with Jesus’ saving power, love and forgiveness of sins. Suffering is a part of life, but we are reminded that Jesus unites our suffering with His passion and death. We know that those who suffer and die with Christ will also rise with Him to new and eternal life.

To schedule an Anointing of the Sick, please call the Parish Office as soon as possible. Please do not wait until the situation is critical, as a priest may not be available to come immediately. It is best to plan ahead and receive this sacrament in a well planned manner. Call 586-228-1210 to arrange a scheduled time.

The Sacraments of Vocation

Marriage

The Sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church; the grace of the sacrament thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity, and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life. (CCC 1661)

For Marriage information call 586-228-1210 ext. 113.

Holy Orders

"Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time…It includes three degrees of order: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate" (CCC 1536). Deacons, priest and bishops are essential to the Catholic Church because we believe that they continue the work begun by the apostles.
